Keuka College Trustee to Deliver Baccalaureate Address

The Rev. Marlowe V.N. Washington will address students at the May 17 service.

A familiar voice will fill Norton Chapel during Keuka College’s Baccalaureate Service this year.

Veteran College Trustee the Rev. Marlowe V.N. Washington, D.Min., Ed.D., will deliver the 2019 Baccalaureate Address during the annual ceremony.

The Rev. Washington is senior minister of the Seneca United Methodist Church in Rochester and diversity consultant with the Brighton Central School District. “Pastor Marlowe” has 11 years’ experience in the field of diversity and inclusion, and has worked with the Rochester City School District and Roberts Wesleyan College.

He has been a member of Keuka College’s Board of Trustees since 2012, where he has served as chairman of the former Student Development Committee and advised the board on cultural competency and diversity issues. He is also an adjunct professor of religion and philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan College.

Baccalaureate is a spiritual service that allows graduates to reflect on life changes, ponder the future, express gratitude, and be challenged to make a difference in the world. Students participate through readings, prayers, songs, and other artistic forms of expression.

The 2019 Baccalaureate Service will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 17, in Norton Chapel.
